During the holiday season the Detroit Center for Design + Technology typically partners with local designers and business owners for events like our Noel Night Sustainable Pop-up.

Because 2020 has us all working from home, we’re spotlighting some of our favorite businesses here. And one of our longtime collaborators is Not Sorry Apparel, a Women-, Black- and Latinx-owned Detroit-based business that specializes in upcycled and sustainable goods.

Owners Dy-Min Johnson and Jessica Minnick say their customers “are some of the most authentic people we’ve ever met. They inspire our work.”

Find out what’s new at Not Sorry Apparel this season and let’s get shopping.

DCDT: How are you preparing for the 2020 holiday season?

DJ: “We're prepping to launch our new website www.notsorrygoods.com! With our new site we'll be expanding our offerings to include sustainable home and lifestyle products that help reduce waste. We're bringing our bold message to reusable kitchen towels, beauty cotton rounds and more.”

DCDT: What items are you spotlighting for sale this season and why?
JM: “We'll be launching our holiday bundle gift sets on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. All gift sets are under $100 and include a complimentary gift box.”
They include:
  • Crewneck + beanie set for $50
  • Hoodie + beanie set for $60
  • Spliced Hoodie + beanie set for $70
  • Tote + Sticker + Patch+ Print set for $30
“These gift sets are great for customers looking to cross multiple people off their shopping list or for those that want to treat themselves to something while they shop for friends and family.”

DCDT: How are you adapting your work and making it accessible amid the pandemic?
DJ: “This year we're offering free shipping on all orders from our website. No minimum purchase required.”

DCDT: Where are you personally shopping for gifts?
JM: “We're shopping at the Rust Belt Market, Ilera Apothecary, Bath Savvy, and of course NotSorryGoods.com for gifts for our loved ones.”
