During this uncertain time, the staff and community associated with Midtown’s Detroit Center for Design + Technology is looking for ways to keep us all connected. One way we’re doing that is a new feature we call @Home with… And today we’re catching up with the center’s associate director and recent Crain’s Detroit Business 2020 20 in their Twenties recipient, Chris Stefani.

Chris Stefani is associate director of LTU’s Detroit Center for Design + Technology. He is passionate about the city of Detroit and has implemented programming at the DCDT aimed to support the growth of creative business in the city. Stefani earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Architecture at Lawrence Technological University and established his own business, The C.L. Stefani Company, in Detroit, in 2016. While the doors are closed temporarily at the DCDT, he’s adjusting to remote work just like the rest of us. He’s also among the recipients of one of the city’s most prestigious awards from Crain’s Detroit Business. Here’s what we learned about Chris Stefani:

DCDT: Where are working from these days?
CS: “I'm floating around the house for the most part. I have a desk that I work at - but have found myself on the couch with my laptop for the most part!”
DCDT: What’s the best part about working from home?
CS: “Not having to deal with a morning drive into the office.”
DCDT: What’s the hardest part?
CS: “Staying motivated to work - and not getting distracted by things that can be done around the house.”
DCDT: What digital platforms are you using most at this time?
CS: “Google and Zoom! Gmail and the Drive cloud services - but zoom for all of our group meetings.”
DCDT: What’s your favorite option for delivery or carry-out?
CS: “I’ve been cooking at home! Taking this opportunity to change the bad habit of eating out all the time.”
DCDT: How are you spending extra time?
CS: “At home work-outs and streaming shows. By far the best to-date has been The Morning Show on Apple TV+. Great cast, great story - just crazy about it!”
