At the Detroit Center for Design + Technology we’re working to keep Detroit’s creative community connected while we’re all asked to #StayHomeStaySafe. Today, we’re pleased to be @ Home with… Sarah Ayers, director of S. Ayers Art. S. Ayers Art specializes in corporate art advising and procurement, representing a variety of works from early 20th century photography to contemporary pieces. @ Home with Sarah Ayer ![]() As director of S. Ayers Art, Sarah Ayers is staying busy during this time, helping artists maintain their visibility by conducting regular interviews and featuring them on the website and Instagram page. "We are currently building a Support page on our website where patrons can purchase not only artwork, but buy limited-edition publications or donate to our artists,” she says. And she’s doing it all from home. Here’s how it’s going: DCDT: Where are working from these days? SA: “I am a table-sitter, so I am perpetually at my kitchen table with my notes, computer and cup of coffee.” DCDT: What’s the best part about working from home? SA: “As someone that worked from home for years, I am pretty comfortable maintaining a schedule and enjoy the quiet that comes with working from home. That's not to say, however, that a sunny day isn't the distraction its always been.” DCDT: What digital platforms are you using most at this time? SA: “I have been using a little of everything, but I would say I'm utilizing e-mail the most - largely for conducting our interviews and allowing time for editing.” DCDT: What’s your favorite option for delivery or carry-out? SA: “Truthfully, I have done neither since this began. I'm a huge cooking nerd, so this has afforded me the time to dive into some of those cookbooks I've had earmarked for way too long.” DCDT: How are you spending extra time? SA: “I have been spending a lot of free time reading my (embarrassingly many) back issues of the New Yorker and the handful of books that have been sitting on my nightstand for far too long. I'm currently working on Ninth Street Women, that, thus far has been incredibly inspiring and interesting. I also subscribed to The Art Newspaper, so have found myself checking in daily with what's happening culturally and monitoring how the art world is shifting. It's really inspiring to see how the creative industry continues to support one another and I'm interested to see what long-term effects this has on the exclusivity and excess of the art world. (Note: The Art Newspaper is running a three-month subscription for $1, so definitely worth it for their news and podcasts!)” Would you like to be featured in an upcoming @ home with… interview?
